The Problem
Technology is rapidly transforming the way we live, work, and interact, yet many young students in Ghana remain unaware of the opportunities it presents. This lack of exposure, especially among junior and senior high school students (JHS and SHS), limits their career aspirations and prevents them from embracing technology’s potential at an early age. The Tech Outreach Initiative is our response to this gap—a bold and targeted effort to inspire, educate, and equip young minds with the knowledge and skills to thrive in a tech-driven world.
Purpose of the Initiative
The Tech Outreach Initiative seeks to:
- Educate Young Students: Raise awareness about the advancing nature of technology, emerging trends, and the critical role tech plays in shaping the future.
- Open Career Pathways: Illuminate the myriad of career opportunities available in technology fields, from software engineering to artificial intelligence and digital marketing.
- Bridge the Gender Gap: Address the concerning statistics showing that many young girls gravitate toward traditional roles due to limited exposure to technology, contributing to the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields.
- Foster Early Engagement: Encourage students to start learning about and embracing technology at a younger age, equipping them with foundational skills for a competitive future.

Why This Matters
According to UNESCO, women make up less than 30% of the workforce in technology and engineering fields globally. This disparity often begins with early education, where girls are less likely to be encouraged to pursue tech-related subjects. In Ghana, the situation is no different; many young girls in underserved communities remain unaware of technology’s potential to transform their futures, leading them to opt for traditional roles that limit their earning potential and career growth.
The Tech Outreach Initiative directly addresses these challenges by:
- Demystifying Technology: Making tech accessible and relatable for students, particularly girls, in JHS and SHS.
- Inspiring Aspiration: Providing role models and examples of successful women in tech to motivate young girls to explore non-traditional career paths.
- Enhancing Digital Literacy: Ensuring students understand the importance of tech in modern life and equipping them with foundational knowledge to begin their journey.
