IT For Youth Ghana, we are having a productive collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, Office of Ga West and Ga East Municipality and Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) to implement a training program for Junior High School (JHS) Graduates girls. These girls, who will soon complete their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), face a three-month waiting period before their results are released. This period presents a unique opportunity to equip them with valuable technological skills that will enhance their prospects by taking advantage of the technology world.
In today’s rapidly advancing technological landscape, equipping young girls with IT skills is essential for their future career prospects and overall empowerment. Our organization firmly believes that every young person, regardless of gender, should have the opportunity to acquire these valuable skills. By fostering an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) among girls, we aim to bridge the gender gap in these fields and promote inclusivity and diversity. Our training will stimulate their interest in pursuing STEM programs in various senior high schools and to empower them take full opportunities in technological advancements.
These skills are increasingly critical in today’s digital world, and we are committed to ensuring that the next generation are not left behind.
The training is stipulated to start after the JHS finish writing their BECE. Our main venue is at our training center located at Kwabenya, Musuku. However, majority of students within the Municipality cannot move to our center due to distance so other centers within the municipalities are being arranged for and will be communicated to parents before the due dates. The training program will last for a period of two (2) months.
The actual program fee is 500GHS, but we are seeking your support to subsidize the cost by 350GHS so participants can afford fees of 150GHS to ensure maximum impact and to be able us to take care of other costs of the program. This will help us charge minimal fee for students from low-income backgrounds to participate and also be able to make it free for those that can’t afford at all. This will also ensure that majority of these young girls and boys can benefit from the program.
